Art Gallery of New South Wales - Wynne Prize

Installation view of David's work hanging in the Wynne Prize at the Art Gallery of New South Wales in Sydney. The Wynne has been awarded annually since 1897 for the best landscape painting of Australian scenery by an Australian artist. David was one of 32 finalists selected for the 2012 award. It was first awarded in honour of the official opening of the gallery.

David has been selected as a finalist in this years Wynne art Prize at the Art Gallery of New South Wales.The Wynne and the Archibald Prizes are amongst the most prestigious art Prizes in Australia. This year marks the 114th year of the Wynne Prize. David's entry Reality Dreamer is pictured above.

An Egan artwork was recently auctioned at the Art Gallery of NSW in aid of the Children's Hospital in Westmead, Sydney.The black tie 'Grace Gala' event raised significant funds for the Grace Centre for Newborn Care, providing a better future for sick babies and their families. Pictured above is one of an extensive collection of images David has been executing so far in 2011. Each image will later be used to collectively form one completed painting.

Black + White Works

Throughout 2010 David has been focusing on producing a large volume of strong, singular imagery on paper. As part of an ongoing process, an edited number of these works will be applied to silkscreen’s allowing this printing process to be incorporated into his painting practice.

New Line On The Horizon

Over the past months, David has been working on new processes to introduce into his painting practice.  A key component in this new direction employs  the use of individually crafted imagery with infinite layering possibilities. Pictured above, is a detail of a study.

Arrow Empire

Arrow Empire # 1(above) forms one of  twenty five panels as part a of an ongoing project of David's. Each panel measuring 39 x 39 cm will collectively make one large installation work with the use of arrows as the central direction in each piece.
